Is Your Young Person Struggling?

What does youth mentoring look like?

Youth mentoring isn’t a lecture, a checklist or a quick fix. It’s a space where young people get to be real without being judged, rushed or labelled. Each session is a one-on-one, private space (online or in-person) where we start with where they’re at.

I use storytelling, carefully worded questions and my patented frameworks to help unpack what’s going on beneath the surface. Some sessions feel light and playful. Others dive deeper. Both help them learn to understand themselves, express their thoughts and feel more confident in their own skin. I offer them tasks to complete that are in alignment with their values and goals to walk them towards achieving them.

Hi, I’m Kevin, a heart-led youth mentor, qualified school teacher, and speaker with over a decade of experience supporting young people through life’s messier moments. From school classrooms to mentoring programs, camps to podcasts, I’ve spent the past 13 years walking alongside teens and young adults as they navigate life.

But beyond the qualifications, I’ve been that kid; the one who felt lost, unsure, and unseen. I was alone, bullied growing up and spent my high school years questioning who I was, mostly in silence until no one was around to hear my internal screaming. That changed when I met my first mentor; someone who didn’t have to care, but did. She gave me space, time, and a book that would shape the rest of my life: Tuesdays with Morrie. That’s when I realised the power of showing up for someone, and I’ve been doing that ever since.

I walk into each mentoring session with a warm, story-driven, and real approach. People often say I have a calming energy. That I’m genuine. I just show up as myself. Turns out, that’s what young people often need most.

Who is this for?

Youth

Feel overwhelmed? Stuck? Or unsure what you want in life? Some are quiet, some overthink, and some hide it well, but everyone’s looking for a space where they don’t have to pretend. Whether you’re navigating confidence, relationships, identity, or just trying to feel like yourself again, I give you space to be open, reflect and grow - being guided by someone who gets it and is on your team.

Parents

Feel like something’s changed in your youth? Maybe they’ve withdrawn, lost confidence, or just don’t seem like themselves anymore. You’ve tried to support them, but the conversations hit walls or fall flat. I offer a calm, non-judgmental space where you can develop the skills to support your youth as they transition into someone with confidence and healthy relationships and habits.

Note: This involves a level of openness on your end to changing your mindset as I will be direct - for the sake of your child.

Workshops

If you have a group that would benefit from improving their confidence, motivation, communication, habits (e.g. hygiene, cooking, fitness, health, organisation) or connections with others or themselves, lets have a chat. I offer hands-on and engaging workshops, tailored to suit your audience.

Speaking

Have an audience that wants to hear about my story, frameworks or strategies? Perhaps you'd like an MC for an event you're running. Reach out and lets chat. I share my story to broaden their view to see what is possible.

FAQS.

What's the difference between mentoring, coaching and therapy?

Therapy often focuses on mental health diagnoses, past trauma and when that’s cleared, preventing relapses.

Mentoring is more about support, guidance, and growth through conversation and tasks, whereas coaching is about removing blocks that stop you from achieving your goals or tasks and helping you find the answers you need. Mentoring and coaching are future-focused and practical.

What topics do you cover?

Anything your youth wants to explore: confidence, anxiety, self-worth, identity, school stress, friendships, social media, communication, motivation, life transitions/direction. I take into consideration what the parent(s) want as well.

My teen doesn't open up easily. Will this actually work?

Totally understandable. I never push for vulnerability. I just show up as a safe, grounded presence. When the tone is set and expectations are made, people tend to open up. People find it difficult to open up because that isn’t the norm within those relationships. For some, all this takes is permission, for others, it takes time.

What if they don't like you?

That’s okay! We start with a free call to help us all see whether this feels right. Not everyone will resonate with me and that’s perfectly okay. If that’s the case, I’ll recommend other trusted options.

What if my child is a little older or younger?

No problem! I’ve mentored young adults as well as primary school-aged children as a teacher. Lets have a chat and see how we can help you and your child.

What does it cost?

Fees are discussed on the free call. I aim to keep this accessible and will offer a package I feel that might best suit your situation.

How long are sessions?

60 minutes

Are sessions online or in-person?

Both. I offer sessions online and in-person (Sydney-based) depending on the needs of the youth (e.g. if they've social anxiety, it may be best for us to begin online).

For Youth

What if I don’t know what to talk about?
You don’t have to. We start with where you’re at. I lead the conversations until you feel comfortable leading it.

Do I have to be struggling to come to mentoring?
Not at all. You might just want someone who listens without judgment or maybe you have something you want to improve on. You just need an open mind.

Will it be awkward?
Maybe at first, but it never lasts long when you’re with someone who gets it. Remember that this is new to you. Anything new is going to feel weird.
